I have a 2000 Expedition 5.4L XLT Sport with 105k miles. Last drove it Christmas Day. Went to start it yesterday and it just cranks and cranks but will not fire up. Battery voltage is 12.3v
Thanks for all the info. When I got home last night I went out and it started right up. Let it set a few more hours then it started again and I moved it inside.
Not sure what the issue was or is. Acts like it could have been a fuel pressure problem.
I have a code reader and will work on it some this weekend after the rain ends and let you know what I find out.
I have had this same problem with my truck, it would crank and crank but never would even want to start. The thing I found that made mine start was I cycled the key on and off for 10 seconds each time, did that three times and then I held 1/4 throttle and it fired right up. I don't know if yours had the same problem as mine but I'm guessing mine has something do with the fuel system. My truck only does it randomly so it’s not a big problem for me. I would also check the MAF to see if it’s bad, which could also keep your truck from starting. The other thing I would check is the ignition system and the entire computer controlled sensors. My guess would be on the fuel system if it starts after what I said to do, but if it doesn't then it’s just a process of elimination.

Hmm, is it cold where you are? If so, maybe your fuel line was frozen. If that's a possibility I'd get a couple bottles of dry gas in there and take it for a 10 miles drive before it freezes again.
Expedition is starting now. Will run on the highway but dies at idle. I was able to ease the throttle back to idle this morning and keep it running long enough to get under the hood to investigate a noise.
I have a buzzing noise coming from the passenger side on top of the motor. I sounds like it is at a fuel injector or a coil pack. Idle is at about 750 rpms. I can't determine the exact location.
As soons as you increase throttle and let off the gas it will die again.
I had this issue with bad gas in Florida earlier this year, added a can of Seafoam and drove it 700 miles home with no issues again until the last few days.
It was extremely cold for this area over the holidays with temps in the teens and the Expedition was outside for the first time for an extended couple of weeks. Its possible that if I have water it could have frozen in the lines.
Any sugguestions would be appreciated. I am only about 10 miles from my Ford dealer and should be able to get it there but would like to give the repair a shot myself. I am pretty good with most mechanical issues once I have a diagnosis.
