I have a D60 kingpin axle and a NP205 that I would like to use in a Bronco. I also have some 5.13 gears to go along with the D60 and a set for a sterling. So if I find a bronco, I plan on upgrading with the heavier axles. I also want to use the NP205 with a twin-stick. I don't have a favorite year that I'm looking for. I'm trying to find what years and/or engine/transmission combination will work with the NP205. I think I read on wikipedia that the 88-89 was the last year for the C6.
there are adapter plates available but the C6 would be your best fit due to how short it is. you might also thinking about doing a 203/205 doubler setup.
are you going to stick with coils up front? really allows for great articulation and better turning radius.
Why would you need an adapter to mount a NP205 to the C6? Are you talking about an after market adapter or one from the factory? When it comes to springs vs leafs, ask me tomorrow and I'll have a different opinion than today. I still have time to make that decision seeing that all I have is an axle, transfercase and two 40 inch tires.lol.. I've been doing more research since posting this thread. The 205 won't fit with the overdrive tranny's, but I don't know about the sticks. I'm curious about what are my options when looking for a bronco. I like the 78-79's, but they are getting to rare around here to find cheap. That leaves me the 80-89 with the 351w? Then I have to decide if i want EFI (87-89)or a carb(80-86). I guess my biggest question right now is what manuals came in the bronco and for what years.
u can find all year broncos up and down the west coast. i think an older 78-9 would be easier to build since most of it is already for what you want to do. u can easily put a 460 in those, where built to have a solid diff up front. go to google and search for bronco sas forums. you will find all the info you could possibly want.
I've looked and looked on FullSizeBronco.com and have learned lots. My problem with that place is it's not very friendly. A question like mine would get crap for not using search. Problem with search is that you might have 50 different threads on what you're searching for, but none of them fully answer your question.
If you are looking for not modifying the trans intermediate housing to adapt the NP205, just about any mid to late 70's F150 and 77 1/2 F250/bronco trans will have the adapter on a C-6, NP435, T-18 and maybe the rare 3spd OD trans. Otherwise you can modify the trans intermediate housing on any 1980 to 1996 trans that was ever in the bronco by notching the trans to transfer case housing in the appropriate spot. You can still get the gasket from the Ford Dealer to use as a template to mark the correct spot for notching the intermediate housing for the NP205.
