hi. i was looking at broncos and my bud told me that not all broncos have the removable cap on the back. i thought they all did. can someone clear this up please?
And that's the time when the OM stopped showing the instructions for the top's removal. But basically all the Broncos (not Bronco II, wich are completely different) have removable tops, as far as i know.
High-mount stop lamp became federal requirement by the end of 91. Shoulder harness rear outboard seat belts were standard for the 1992 model year and remained that way through the end of production in 1996. And yes ALL Broncos from 1966 through 1996 (all 30 years) had at least a portion of the top that was removable. For tried to discourage it when the high-mount stop lamp became necessary and the shoulder harness belts were added by editing out the removal instructions from the owners manual in 1992 but the top was still removable. 92-96 models need a special T40 "tamper-proof" Torx bit to remove the hardware that secures the top to the bed of the truck but otherwise, the tops from 1980-96 are identical with the high-mount stop lamp and the shoulder harness anchor being the only change in 1992.
