Hey guys, I have a 2006 f150 crew cab. I am trying to replace the #4 spark plug. I have removed the cop and now I find a liner around the middle of the spark plug that goes to the well sides. I can't get it to budge and now I can't get to the nut part of the spark plug. any help would be appreciated.
already have the thing apart in my drive. I own a 1978 f250 high boy and am willing to drive it and sell this thing if this is how ford has decided to design things. Very very loyal customer unfriendly. Ford should know that real truck drivers do all but the most serious repairs and changing a spark plug is about as simple and uncomplicated a task as there is at least until the bozos at ford decided show there design prowess. back to trying to figure out how these sleeves are removed to get to spark plug.
U would be well advised to have the dealer do it they are very easy to break off in the head and there is a special TSB on doing them I had my 04 done at 50K and they broke 7 of 8 did not need to remove heads though to get them out dealers have a spedial tool for removal.
If you can break it loose I recommend (and so does the TSB) to spray some carb cleaner into the spark plug well and let it sit over night. I did my plugs like this, broke 2 out of 8 off in the end which is better than what some people are reporting and that was with 96K on it. I have the Lisle Spark Plug Remover and it worked great. Well worth the 70 bucks.
