Hi All, I have a 52 F2 with the 215 six cyl with a 3 speed on the floor. I know where I can get a 53 272 car motor. Will is bolt right into my truck and hook up to my 3 speed or what all would I have to change. Thanks in advance for any help, Dennis
Hi, the 215 seems to run really well. I am working out brake problems and have ordered a new radiator for it but i drove it for a couple of mile until it got hot and it seems to run really good. I doesn't smoke so I was going to change oil and things a try and run it a little bit to see how it does. I just know where there is a 272 that is out of a 54 Ford car and I heard it run a few years ago and it ran great. I was just wondering if the 272 would bolt up to my 3 speed and mount in fairly easy. Family owns the motor so I was just going to try and buy it incase the 6 is in bad shape but I really don't think it is. It will be a bit before I get time to work on it to much. I have a lot I'm trying to get done before winter. Thanks for your help, I will try and post some pictures as I get it ready for the road. Have a good one, Dennis
Do you know for sure that it is a 272? It could be the the original engine and if so it will be a 239 not a 272. This was the first year of the OHV Ford V8 and is not an engine you want for your F-2. They were prone to main seal leaks and rebuild parts are getting harder to find for them since they were a one year production engine. The 272 came out the following year. If it's a 239 I'd pass on it and look for a 272/292/312 if you want to stay with a 'Y' block...
