I have a 05 f250 with a 5.4l
I have seen lots of instructions on here for doing a power steering flush with diesels, but the setup is not the same on the motors.
Wondering if anyone has some instructions on the 5.4?
You probably seen the instructions for diesel engines which have hydraboost and the gas engines do not. You should follow the steps in this thread instead.
I just finished the flush and every so often i get a random grinding noise kind of high pitched. the p/s fluid is bled, not bubbly or milky in the resv.... answers?
I don't have any more good ideas. It could be anything from the pump, to steering box, to somthing in the drag link or tie rods. Any idea where the sound is coming from?
If it wasn't there before, you may well just have a little air in the lines still. If it goes away in a couple days, you'll know for sure. Other thing you can do is pull a vacuum on the PS resevoir to draw air out. Would work better with it running.
