460 in a '46 truck?

Hey guys, Not sure if this is exactly the right place to post this so I'm posting it here and in the big block section. I need help with a conversion I want to do. I have a 1946 ford truck with an engine that needs serious work in order to run. I also have access to a 460 out of a '71 continental. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a place that makes a kit or something to mount a 429/460 in a 42-47 ford truck. I have access to my uncle's shop and if necessary he can come up with something custom to mount it but I would rather have something professionally made.

If no such company exists, I would really appreciate any advice or ideas you may have. ALso, does anyone have suggestions where I can find a manual transmission that will bolt up to this engine? I was thinking a 5 speed out of a 90's f250.

THanks,
Jon

Are you planning to go with an IFS ? If so, Fatman Fabrications makes tubular engine mounts which weld onto the IFS. ( www.fatmanfabs.com ). I believe in an older post I saw someone reference a company which made an X-member for mounting the motor.

I have some pics of the Fatman install at www.computerliterates.com/47ford Look at the "measuring engine" section. P.S. I threw a big block chevy in mine, and one of the days I'll update the pics and info, cause it's further than it shows.

By the way, nothing will fit, but it eventually will. You'll need to set the radiator in the 6 cyl. position.

Speedway Motors sells a mount. I don't know how wide the frame is but if its between 28"-38" this might work.

Just a little bump and wanted to mention that I'm not set on the 460 yet, if anyone knows of a ford v8 that's easier to swap and maybe has a complete kit available I would be willing to go with a different engine.

Very unlikely to find a kit for your year of truck. They arn't as popular as the newer or older trucks.

The easiest engine would be a flathead with the original front mounts. That is if the original mounts are still on the frame. But if you don't wanna go with a flathead I am doing an FE in my truck. I've seen Hemi's, Ford small blocks, chevy small blocks. So its possible, its just whatever you can do.
