Will the gears or carrier from a 1/2 ton 44 fit a 3/4 ton 44? Both r ford hp axles

All the internals should match right up however the U-joint yoke may be different, but i dont think you have to worry about that. The only difference between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton is the 3/4 ton is built up stronger on the outside.

Yes they will work fine (the HP uses reverse cut gears, the carrier will work for hp or lp). Keep in mind there are 2 different size carriers tho... 3.73 and down... and 3.92 and up

I think u will need everything from the spindles out. and any 8 lug dana 44 will work or 8 lug chevy 10 bolt. just what I've been told so u might want to double check

Everything from the brake calipers out will fit. Also the dana 44 3/4 ton has thicker tubes than 1/2 ton dana 44. Been a long time since I converted my 5 lug to 8 lug but remember something with the stub shafts on the snap ring grooves being different if this is a issue for you. Be sure to take a measurement on the stub shaft. I still have this axle assembly on stand by for light weight vehicle. Switched to dana 60 got tired of busting ring and pinion and carriers once I went to big block world and hrspwr. hope this helps and good luck.

I'm pretty sure the nuckles are the same but i know for sure, the spindles and out are different besides the lockouts. So caliper bracket (for dual piston calipers) spindel, bearings, (roter of coarse) dual piston calipers, outer axle shafts are 3/4 of an inch longer because of the spindle and roter so you need to get those from an f250. lockouts will work. Carrier will work form any d44

When I put 8 lugs on my 44, I used everything outside of the knuckles-caliper brackets, spindles, hubs and brakes. The lockout is the same and the stubs are the same. As far as the half ton 44 being weaker, not necessarily so. It depends on what year/model. Here's a website which will give you loads of D44 info:

knuckles out

I used the F250 knuckles to do mine, I got a flat top knuckle on the passengers side for my crossover steering conversion. The inner axles are different lengths between the F100 and F250 D44s. The F250 knuckles don't turn as sharp as the F100s do.
