Tire and Gear changes in 2000 Expy 4X4
I have a 2000 Expedition 4X4, 5.4, 4R100. I installed 285x75x16 tires and 4.10 gears. The original sizes were 255x70x16 and 3.55. According to my math the end result is a change of approximately 6%. My question is does anyone know about a Ford Super Star II program or something to that effect that allows a ford technician to reprogram the trans shift points and speedo? My brother is a mechanic and spoke to a tranny shop who said Ford should be able to do this but that it can only be re-programmed twice. The problem I am trying to overcome is that the torque converter lockup is varying in third gear under a heavy load. The rpms will drop from 3,500 down to 3,300 and then continue accelerating. It is seemless and smooth.
