Does anyone know why the rear end to the Expeditions tend to sag so much. Additionally, what can be done to resolve this issue? I have a 99 that looks like it is sagging, I just wonder if this is an optical illusion or is this really happening? When I measure the distance, it appears that the rear sits lower than the front. The Truck only has 40k miles; I don’t understand Ford enough to understand the issue!
I changed the shocks and it worked. I went with monroe sens a trac coil-over shocks. Besides leveling her out(back is actually a little higher than the front now) The coil-overs add 1000lbs to the load capacity. It handles alot better too.
My 98 Expy had the same look. It seemed even worse with a trailer, it just didnt seem right. So I looked under it and saw that the sensor for the air ride was at its lowest setting. I adjusted it until I was satisfied. I hated the look, it looked like those old cheby suburbans that sagged in the back.
I respectfully disagree. You did not change the load capacity and to think otherwise is dangerous and expensive. You still have the same axles, springs, brakes and most importantly, tires. You can easily exceed the rated load capacity while looking good and ruin your rear axle, diff bearings and gears. Been there, done that long ago. And if a tire blows from overloading it can ruin your vehicle and worst yet, kill you and others.
Hope this helps.

Where is the sensor located and how do you change the settings?
I have a 99 eb and it sits a little low also. I didnt think that there was a setting for this. Thanks

The sensor is located on the drivers side over the rear axle. It is mounted on a slotted hole. The sensor can be adjusted a couple inches up or down. Hope this helps.
Interesting. I have a 2000 Expedition with LLS all round (not just in the rear). Is the sensor setup the same, or is there a separate sensor for the front end?
I didnt need the front to be adjusted, so i didnt look. If you want to lift the front an inch or two, just adjust the torsion bars, i think thats what their called. They can raise the front a couple inches.
Did the sensor solve the problem? I put firestone air bags in the rear coils. Love em. They pick the rear end up, cut down on body roll when cornering and I can raise the rear 2" when towing. About $125 with all the parts and 1 hour to install.
