I have a '78 f100 with a 302 auto. The tranny works real well except for one annoying problem. When the truck is first started it seems to surge forward for just a split second. At first I thought I was just imagining it because it doesn't happen all the time.I've adjusted the linkage several times and it doesn't seem to help any.Any ideas would be great.

My truck does the samething when cold the only thing I have come up with is the torque convertor is the culprit of the surge
when the transmission sits over night and the pressure inside releases
I have found that when you start the truck the torque convertor which also acts as a pump creates the pressure in the trans and the burst of pressure when you first start the truck is what causes the surge it surges because the trans is coming up to pressure.
that is what i have found out that causes it
