Has anyone done it? will it work? I need a new frame for this truck and this is one of the options. also found a 51 frame with camaro clip.

it's a 1980 c-10 117'' wheelbase, so I believe that will work? front track and frame width ? anyone? going to see it this week end, didn't want to waste a trip if it's not going to work.

Thanks

'52 F1 wb is 114". The full size GM frame I believe is too wide and long. Cutting will surely be involved. It can be done, but an S10 frame is alot easier.

Thank's for the response.

I looked at the chevy it's a short box with 117" wheelbase The s10 reg cab longbox is the same? so I think it will work that way. This truck has no box the frame rails behind the cab are 34'' outside to outside I think the 52 cab will fit? (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) Now the only issue is the front end track I measured aprox 60'' inside of tires on the chevy, Does anybody know if will work for my 52?

Frank

I'm using a 72 chevy c10 frame under my 56 panel and there is another fellow on here that has done the same on a 49/50 f-1 that I'll try to search for. He lives in your province and could very well be close to you, just can't think who at the moment, hopefully he will show up. I had no issues other than the length which was cut ,welded and fish plated. The S10 is a boxed frame that slides into each other and may prove to be easier and is narrower than the full sized chevy, as I believe the F-1 is a bit narrower than the 53-56 F-100. When I find the fellow who has done it on the F-1 I'll post his link on this post.
John And welcome aboard

1948 Ford F1 4x2 - 1948 "Ford Tuff with Chevy%

Okay, I don't know why I couldn't think who it was but his user name is Kusto, here is a link to one of his galleries. It appears he had to widen his front fenders 4 inches. Hope this is of help. He's in Grande Prairie

thanks for the response, I think he may have widened the fenders by choice? it looks like i could fit a couple more inches of tire in mine.or maybe put use some real skinny tires..he..he. just wondering what the real track difference is between the two trucks? I really want to use this frame because it's already set up 454 , turbo 400, shortend 9'' ford coilover, and a great price!

Hey Woody,

next time your in the area stop in, and I'll buy you a pop.
what were you worried about most? when you contemplated this swap. I still can't find any info on actual track width for the chevy, Anyone?

Big problem with late model frames besides track width is the rear kick up intrudes into bed. If you don't plan on carrying anything and/or shallow bed look doesn't bother you then...
