Just wondering if it's me driving the Expy like a sports car, or do they really eat through a set of tires every 20,000 miles? I just hit the 94K mark and put the 5th set of tires on. 2 sets of Continental's, one set of Michelin's, and now on the second set of Brigestone's. I went with Brigestone's again because they lasted as long as the Michelin's and cost a lot less.
I have 10K on my set of tires and they still look brand new. So it's either you're cornering too fast, or you have worn parts in the front end making your alignment constantly change.
Are you buying heavy load tires, or softer passenger car rubber. Tires for this weight of vehicle really should be 700$+ for a set of 4 mounted and high mileage (50,000+).

kind of a side note. The Michelins I was running on my Screw only lasted about 20k - the tire dealer that put them on gave me a credit towards the new tires because they were a 40k tire (dropped the price in half for the new tires). I am new to the expy, so we'll see when the Continentals wear out.
I haven't been running LT tires either. i really never haul anything, so both garages said to stick with passenger tires. next set are going to be Revo LT's if the new shop that has a Hunter balancer deals in them...otherwise Cooper ATR LT's.
Cooper has 265/70R-17's in LT, but they say they aren't "for my truck"
Also, it appears the Load C tires can't carry the weight, but the Load E and even the P Metric can. weird or is it me?
I got 68K out of a set of Michleins. They had another 10 to 15 K in them but I was driving during a lot of rain. I now have a set of Avon Rangers with 46K and have plenty of tread left. I rotate every 3 to 4K and check the air pressure when temperature or altitude changes. I have 176,750 on the 99 Expedition now. Looking to get 200K +
i rotate my michelins LTXs every 5000 miles. i've had them for 12k and they still look brand new. i bought them because i read on here that some expy owners are getting 60-70k on LTXs with proper rotation and pressure settings. so far so good! money spent was well worth it. they drive and ride perfectly.

I'm guilty of not rotating....now that i see my dealer does all four (duh) for $12.95, there's no reason not to do it. when i took it to walmart, they nearly crushed my nerf bars.
On the Navigator-I'm at 60K miles on the Firestone Destination LE's now,and they've still got 8-10K more to go.
On my old '98 F150-I got around 60K on the same Firestones before they were down to the wear bars.
On my work truck('01 F150),it's had 3 sets of BFG Long Trail T/A's-they're lasting approx 70K miles per set.
JL
I had 50k on the front Nokian Vativa's but had a lower ball joint issue that caused me to replace. Another 10k, total 60k on the rears and they still have tread. I tow a lot too.
I have a set of Conti's which I hate, but I needed them and did not spend the time to reasearch. When I replace the rears I will do all 4.
