Not sure where else to ask this so I'll try here. I recently bought an 06 4x4 expedition EB. I requested an OASIS but never got a response. My question is - does it still have any type of warranty. I had someone pull a carfax and saw that it was in an accident in late 05 and then sold at auction (clear title, hit a utility pole while it was a rental vehicle). build date is 5/05 so i am sure there is no bumper to bumper. But does it have a 5 yr 60k powertrain warranty. I have a knock intermittantly when I start it in the front after it sits for a bit. Thought it might be compressor - but possibly transmission. Not sure if I should just call a dealer and ask them, but searched around ford's site and could not find a place to find out. Love the vehicle and it is a huge change from my 03 supercrew - but want to get any possible issues resolved before we go on a family trip. BTW it has 30k miles on it, that is why I question possibly bumper to bumper also. Thanks in advance - please let me know if this should have been posted elsewhere.

This can happen if the oil filter being used is not a motorcraft brand. The motorcraft filter has an anti-drain back valve in it. This has the advantage of keeping oil in the passageways all the way up to the valve trains. With any other brand of filter, the oil bleeds back down and it takes several seconds to refill those passageway at the next engine start...hence the knocking sound.
Also, you should be using 5W-20 oil, preferably synthetic. Anything thicker adds to the delay in moving oil around after it been started up.
Thanks for the replies. dealer let me know they only had 3/36 warranty. I will change the oil this weekend and hope that the intermittant knock goes away. thanks again, Mike.

Wow, just plain wow.
The better way to phrase this would be "if the oil filter being used does not have an anti-drainback valve". Please correct me if I'm wrong, but all FL820S equivalents commonly available have anti-drainback valves, AND, the Motorcraft filter is not the greatest thing in the world either. I've had 3 fail on me in that the drainback valves failed causing a split second clatter on cold startup. After I switched to "any other brand", the clatter disappeared. No more Motorcraft for me.
Please tell me which brands do not have anti-drainback valves. Let's name some names.
I have used Purolator Pure One, Purolator "L" series, Amsoil EaO, Mobil1, Napa Gold, and even Fram, and they all had anti-drainback valves. Only the Fram had a nitrile valve, all the others were silicone.
Thanks shorebird - I only requested under the car/truck buying advice section. Hopefully I will get a response under this link. Kind of moot now because I went ahead and bought it anyway.
