Hi,
I noticed over the past week that the front hubs are rattling when I accelerate. It sounds exactly like when you switch to 4H or Auto-4HI and the hubs are synchonizing just before they lock in. I moved between 2H and Auto-4HI several times to make sure the switch was OK. Does anyone know what can cause this? Is there some lubrication required somewhere? Hubs starting to fail?
Thanks,
Gary
Why are you so sure it's the hubs making the noise? There are other things that can cause noises up there, like the brakes, loose/broken sway bar bushings/links, worn CV joints, belt and pulleys, etc.
sounds like you have a vacuum leak or a bad IWE, when you are in 2WD vacuum is applied to the IWE and when you accelerate it sounds like it is temporarily losing vacuum. maybe a bad solenoid? I would check it out as it can damage the hub. when my IWE went bad I just drove in AWD until I could get to it
