Which is better, Motorcraft 2100 or 2150? I have the option to upgrade to a 2150 for $10, and I'm about to rebuild my 2100 anyway, so should I cough up the extra $10 and then just rebuild the 2150? I have read that the 2100 runs rich near open throttle.
If I get a 2150 from an auto trans 351, can I just swap out the linkage with my 2100?
Also, what do I do with the extra vacuum ports? Will simply putting a nipple plug on them still allow the carb to operate efficiently?
But if the 2100 isn't giving you troubles, I don't see the need to unless...
D6WE-EA no light truck application is listed with this ID number. Are you sure it's correct? If so, it may be off a car. D6 = 1976. Which should have been a 2150.
My 2100 is giving me trouble. It needs a rebuild. The idea is to upgrade to the 2150, then just rebuild that one, and sell my 2100 to make my money back (plus a little extra). I believe you that the 2150 came from a car, the guy never said what it was from. Can I swap the linkage though (atx linkage to mtx linkage)? The fact that it's from a car won't make it harder to swap, will it?
Edit: I just figured out 'W' means it's from a Cougar.
No, I haven't bought it yet. I wanted to consult the panel first. I like to do my research.
It is going into my 1974 F100 w/ a 302 w/ a manual trans (3.03 ford). I've been so concentrated on tearing down for resto, I haven't gotten my engine's checkup yet, but I will rebuild as needed. After I do, I'm going for a nice crane cam and some headers to go with this new (used) carb. I also found out this 2150 I'm looking at has a 1.21 venturi, which I've also added that into the calculations. According to Crane's cam calculator, I'll be producing exactly what I want, a little over 200 HP, around 300 TQ, nothing killer, but not much expense for 80-100 HP and 70 ftlb TQ. My carb being 1.08 means it should sell nicely to the Jeep guys who want an upgrade. Everybody wins!
