I was thinking about picking this truck up for a project and the seller indicated it was a 42 truck. Looking at pictures online it appears that after 39 they stopped using the overhead windshield wipper. Is this a 39 or early 40 truck?
Aww, but with a little love and lots of elbow grease and $$ it could make for a nice cab :-) I have a 49 8BA motor I'm working on and want to put it into a truck and build something similar to a Rat.
42-47 frames are very similar to 48-50 the 48-50s have loner frame horns on the front to mount the bumper 42-47 had specialy mounting bracket for the bumper
Definitely 42-47 with the double rib trim on the doors, and the rust lines from the front fenders follow the 42-47 fender line. If you look up the posting on the Battery tray for a 42-47 you will see a match with the frame. Tray one one side for V8 and mirrored to other side for 6-Cyl.
48-52's are that way also (battery trays) But they seem to sit a bit higher as I recollect. Either way, this is a start to a nice project. More often than not, you'll find 42-47 front clips available since most end up thrown out as rodders are putting the 40/41 front clips on and still using the same 40-47 cabs. I've been wanting a Merc version of these years for a long time now....still no luck.
