Cruise Controll Surge

It seems when I set the cruise controll on my 01 Ex V-10 that I can feel it surge up and down just a little. It doesn't do it all the time either. I've only put about 500 miles on it and am just getting to know the truck. Has anyone else encountered this? I don't see the tach move.

Regards,

Mitch

My truck does it a lot esp if using cruise at lower speeds. Its a diesel though. once I get my chip and tuning software I just ordered I am going to see if I can tune it out.... not sure if you have a cable controlled cruise on the v10, I think it does. then a vacuum leak or streched/ mis adjusted cable could cause the cruise to surge when trying to hold or return to set speed. the diesels dont have a physical connection to the throttle its electronic...
Just a bit of info for ya
Gas engines control engine speed by adjusting the amount of air entering the engine
Diesel engines control engine speed by adjusting the amount of Fuel entering the engine...

Yes, the V10 has cable controlled cruise.... I just disconnected mine the other day when changing a spark plug.

Thanks for the info,

It seems to do the surge when I first set the cruise or hit resume. After a short time it seems to smooth out. I will keep an eye on it.

I noticed that the cruise control in my X is slow to resond to speed changes! it`ll lose a few mph and then try and make up for it by opening the throttle to much. even worse on hills. on my old Dodge conv. van the speed never varied by more than 1 mph!
