Does the interior handle seem loose? Or does it appear normal? You should take the door panel off to see what is going on before anything. If the handle is dangling and loose, it probably tore the metal inside your door. This is a common thing on these trucks but is a pretty simple fix if can weld. I just drilled new holes in the handle bracket and screwed it spots where the metal wasnt weak. If its not that, then maybe the cable in the door broke. I do not know what is involved with that.

I had the same problem. I swapped out the entire mechanism with one from another truck and problem was solved. In my case the metal where the inner handle attaches was fine and upon examination of the old mechanism, I could not see why it did not work. Cable looks great, seems to work fine in my hand...but it would not open the door.

I always try to take my door panels off once a year to inspect things. I lube the door mechanism and replace the crappy plastic door panel fasteners while I am at it. I had to screw my door panel to the door to keep the damn thing from rattling anyways. Try to get the door panel and take a look around.
