I have read some other threads about the cause for fogging windows. It sounds like my heater core. A few days ago, my truck began becoming so foggy i had to keep pulling over and wiping down my windshield, but it still would not fully clear up. And then tonight, a white cloud of a sweet bitter smell of coolant came through the cab when the heat was on. Is a heater core replacement a tit to replace? And do I need to do anything fancy if I have an AC? I also noticed my AC was not blowing cold air, could this be compressor related possibly? Because if I am not correct, doesnt the defrosting system rely on the AC to pull out moisture out of the heat? My heat is still very hot, and the blows hot air. But the cloud coming out of the vents was sort of curious to me....
Disconnect hoses outside firewall, access heater core from under dash, put down plastic to keep floorboards clean a few clips and the panel pops off. heater core is right there, easy job!....(Helps to remove the glove box.)

Thanks, sounds easy! Usually heater core jobs= big job!
Heater core change is real easy. If I had a choice between changing heater core or something else like spark plugs, or a flat tire at the side of the road, I would pick the heater core.
While you have it out, check the blend door for anything that might be holding it open slightly. That could explain your AC issues. Funny things have been found there, like any small object that gets tossed up on the dash can fall down thru the defrost ports and end up in the blend door.
Good Luck

Mine just did the same thing a few days ago, it's weird seeing the steam come out.
haha i know man, i thought i was seeing **** bc i was driving at night, and kept thinking i was seeing like ghosts haha, but then i realized it was just the steam from the vents
My entire cab was filling up with it, and i was thinking "ok what is burning now" then when it had no smell I realized that it was probably steam, and it was probably the reason I: A. could not see out the windshield and B. the reason it didn't smell like smoke.
Whats really fun is when the windows wont clear and smear when you try to clean them. Also fun is passenger side carpet swimming in coolant. (not in these trucks)
The 92-96s are one of the easiest to change and the core is cheap I took the opportunity to change the heater hoses and service the cooling system at the same time. The core change only took an hour with my 6 year old grandson helping. The instructions for changing the core is online and in the Haynes manual. My foam gaskets were toast and fell apart and I replaced it. When my core failed it had the smell and fog. 30 minutes of driving later and coolant was slightly leaking on the passenger side.
Good luck
