Ive been reading around about the rotella anit freeze and how its red and how the green anti freeze has to have a additive. My truck has green anti freeze in it,is there any thing i should look out for?thanks
Your engine will explode on impact.
OK seriously now, the SCA's help prevent cavitation caused by the injection process. My understanding of cavitation is very limited so I'll let someone else explain, but the short answer is it can cause internal engine damage.
The fleetguard test strips are one brand and they work very well. one set of 4 should last you a year if you test every 3 months, but you probably don't need to test that often. I test mine about every 6 months, but I don't put too many miles on the truck. If you follow the link above, you'll be takes to our site where there's a link at the btm of the page where you can view the Fleetguard instructions on how to test. I usually drain a little a/f from the drain at the btm of the radiator and test it that way. Only need a little bit to test. Make sure you have a watch on as you'll need to time it at 45 seconds before you read the colors. I like to keep my SCA between 2.0 and 2.5 units. More is not necessarily better.
