Alarm Recomendations

I just got my '03 Diesel Excursion last week and I'm pretty impressed with it. I didn't realize there was no factory security system though. I did a search and saw some options, but I thought I'd see what everyone has to say.

I use my X mostly for work, carrying my equipment and sometimes customer's stuff back and forth. While its usually not left overnight in bad areas, I do have to leave it unattended at times.

I'm looking for an alarm system that can work with the existing ignition security, have remote start and turbo cool down capability. I'd also like to install this myself, as the local shops leave something to be desired.

Any suggestions?

I have a V-10 in mine, but I have this system and it performs beautifully: Crimestopper Security Products, Inc. Remote start does work very well. Has shock sensors and all doors are alarmed. It has it's own remotes.

You have the PATS anti-thft system from the factory.

This is THE most effective anti-theft device in my opinion. They will not start the vehicle and drive it away, they would have to tow/dag it away if anything. These are very popular in high theft area's for super duty trucks. (near the mexico boarder)

I'm not too worried about someone stealing the truck. I'd rather they didn't but, that's really secondary.

The stuff I carry is expensive and I want to discourage or scare away the "smash and grab" type of people that would try to get into the truck.

I've got this one:
AutoPage 2-Way Communications C3-RSTKE-900-2W

It has the remote start and turbo cool down. The remote has a true one mile radius, I can't believe how far away it works. Been using it for probably two years now with no problems.
