I got the CEL and P0401 code thrown. I've searched hundreds of posts and can't find anything for the 04 4.0L Flex Fuel XLT. I've seen tons of pictures of the dpfe on earlier models, but I can't find anything like it in my truck. Has the egr been integrated with the dpfe in my model? All I can find is something like this... http://info.rockauto.com/getimage/ge...tex/4F1881.jpg
This is from the '04 Manual: "The Delta Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) sensor, EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) solenoid, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor and the EGR valve itself are integrated into one unit in the ESM EGR assembly. The ESM is not serviceable. If any one component fails within the ESM, the entire ESM assembly must be replaced"
Here's a note from the Manual on installation, after cleaning the mounting surface: "Install a new EGR system module gasket with the side with the raised circle facing the intake manifold"
Doh!!! I was afraid of that....yeah, gonna be about $90-100 for the part + gasket, and a lot more difficult to install than the previous design. Thank you gentlemen for the very helpful replies.
