1985 302 fi aod trans
Ok heres the deal my 85 f150 super cab 302 fi with a aod transwas not shifting till it got warmed up and than some times ya still had to mau shift it
than it stared problems backing up it would back about 2 feet and bang come to a dead stop like you jamed the brakes on let it cool down would back up just fine get warm same thing bam dead stop
changed the trans fluild and drained the Tc put new filter in still same thing
anyone got any id on what is going on
also whats the reason for 2 dif tyes tail shaft 10 1/2 and 11 1/4 havent ck what mine is yet
also what years fit this truck cars or trans or both
Im in Everett Wa so if someone has a aod they want to part with (cheap) i could drive a way to get it

'88-93 are the better boxes, from behind V8 or out of truck with 6 or V8.
You got a trans shop? Maybe a simple adjustment?
These are iffy transmissions. You are as likely to end up with a problem with a scrappy special as you are to fix the one your have.

Two different tailshafts would be 4x2 vs 4x4 application. You need to measure yours.
The symptoms you describe--What is going on? Your transmission is failing.
Did someone fool with the linkage, specifically the TV cable or linkage recently?
A problem like this requires a teardown.
There are plenty of trans shops in your area.
For a trans, try placing a want ad here, or try Craigs list. As I said, buying and installing a used AOD is risky business.
