2009 Exhaust (Factory or Aftermarket)<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
<HR style="COLOR: #ffffff; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --><!-- google_ad_section_start -->Looking at the factory muffler display, it appears as if the 2009 F150 muffler is free flowing. AFE says their 2009 F150 exhaust flows 55% better. Can this be possible or is it just marketing hype? The factory muffler sounds good when you get on it. Just wondering if I would gain any performance with a Magnaflow.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

It depends, is the factory muffler a flow through design as well? I have seen the inside of a Tundra muffler and they still have some baffles to cancel out sound.
If you're buying a Magnaflow muffler, you're honestly not going to see a big "gain" in performance that you'll write home about.
Sorry, mufflers just don't have the kick in the seat of the pants feel that people expect 'em too (myself included).

Your right about the gains. I have seen some gains of 10-15hp on highly modded Turbo engines but NA engines i have yet to see gains of any kind. Now the sound is another matter.
Yeah, I absolutely LOVE the sound of the Borla that's on my truck Wish it were a tad louder these days, but driving 900 mile clips every once and a while really makes me glad that I have the system I have.

Yeah the noise can get a little much. I dont know what was done to the chevy avalanche we have at the house but to be honest i cant travel in it. The noise it makes is such a low rumble that it makes your head hurt when your in it for even 5 mins. You dont even wanna know what it's like in the back as a passenger. It's even worse. From outside it makes a lovely deep rumble but there's no way on earth i could live with that everyday. i have to have a happy medium.
Yeah exhaust can be a great thing but there are so many ways to go wrong IMO. I hate the really really loud exhausts.
The Borla has a beautiful rumble at idle when both the engine and outside temp are cold. When it's warm outside, it doesn't idle so high and it's not so loud.
Hell, I'll take a video of it when I go to golf class and post it up around 2-2:30
