power steering pump
Hi All:
Anybody know how to get the pump off the bracket on a 92 f150, there is a set screw in the center of the pulley with a collar over it, does the collar unscrew? (righ or left handed?)

The center screw isn't a screw.. who knows why the decided to make it look like a screw because it's just part of the pulley. As stated you need a power steering pulley puller and a good pneumatic impact wrench, you'll never get it off with a ratchet because you won't be able to keep the pulley from rotating.

There is no center screw that is the shaft, the pulley is just pressed on and needs to be pulled off. The collar that you see is for the tool to grab onto. The tool clamps onto that collar and then you turn in a bolt that pushes on the shaft pulling the pulley off. It cannot be done without the puller and once you see the puller it will all make sence.

Good pullers have a big hex that you can put a wrench on while you ratchet in the bolt.
