Gosh...but what the heck is with the FORD build your '09 F150 website? I mean...for us folks that know FORD trucks it is inconvenient not to see pics of selections.
But to folks that do not know FORD and want to get info...it really is terrible. Maybe they had to reduce the work force from the IT dept.

At the bottom of the Ford Website page is a place to click for Site Feedback, maybe you should click on that and fill it out. I agree it is a little annoying to click on the 'details' tab and get nothing.
I have noticed the same thing, and it is really annoying me that it won't let me search inventory so I can see what the dealers have around here. I click on search inventory, the 09 F-150 pic and enter my zip code. Then it starts to load and then nothing grey screen saying it sorry but Ford Direct is unable to handle my request right now.
Hasn't anyone at Ford caught on yet and seen the light? Most of the posts here about poor dealership feedback, late delivery dates, and poor website designs are THE REASONS why last week the "Big 3" top dogs were BEGGING for Federal bailout funds. Why? I think this message board just answered it. Maybe they should put us on their payroll.
I actually think Ford has the most informative and interactive web site of any of the car builders. You can choose a model and compare like models, you build cars and trucks, etc. I do agree that the '09 information stream has been dead slow to get out.
FORD does have a nice website that has lots of specific info on any given model vehicle they offer.
However...the '09 F150 info is just lacking! Not only that...but the entire "build" process should be revamped. If I make a selection...it should show that selection on an image of what I am building. Kind of like Toyota...as they have a GREAT build it section. If I want a certain color, then show me the color on the model that I have selected. The same with the tires and wheels. Add them to the image...and let me get an idea of what it is going to look like.
With the Toyota site...I built a Tundra...and it changed the model config, tires/wheels, running boards, etc. all based on my selections. That is a COOL feature!

Heh, you got that right.
Clueless marketing is just one of the many reasons the Big 3 are in trouble.
Ford should ease up on the package restrictions. I tried to build several trucks and on the XLT I needed to add a chrome package and a bunch of other items just to get the 3.73 rear end gears.
They should let you select what you want which would lower the price to the consumer.
It's not like Ford is selling 100,000 of these new F150's a month and they can't slow down to build to suit.
Our closest local dealer has the White Lariat still and no others. The other dealer still has 60 08's and no 09's yet.

That's a very good point. Why can't I have the XL or STX with the chrome package, 5.4L and 3.73's? I shouldn't have to buy pretty to have function and performance.

The Ford accessories web site does show the effects of accessories as you add them to the exterior. (Find "Owners" on most Ford web pages, select "Genuine Ford Accessories" and you are there.)
And the Ford Build page does show the truck colors.
Personally...I agree about the pictures in the 'Details' links. Sometimes those are useful, particularly when picking mirrors.

Somebody at FORD must have read this thread! Most of the issues have been added. Colors, detailed explanation of options (4x4 or 4x2; 5.5ft or 6.5ft bed, etc). NICE!
Looks like there are now ready to introduce the '09 F150 to the public!
Hank...thanks for the tip on the "Owners" site. Will check that out.
Is that why the ports in Califonia have lots and lots of toyotas sitting there with no where to go?
The reason they are sitting there is because no one is buying right now. Decades of being one of the best an surely one of the best quality wise has helped Toyota to be able to get throught this major downturn.
Toyota hasn't had to lay off half it's workforce and close plants. Toyota does not have it's hand out asking for a bailout like the useless 3.
When the economy makes the recovery Toyota will be just fine. Will the big 3 even be around to see that happen?
