302 idling problems

Hey everyone, i was going to see if i could get some help with my engine. I just got through doing a rebuild, my other thread is "rebuild my 302 for performance".......now that its built, i figured i would start a new one.....im having problems keeping it running.....im almost positive that mechanically, everything is correct, but i could be wrong......timing is good, got fuel, and got air.....but it wont idle very well, and if i press the gas pedal, it will either die or barely stay running.....im running open headers if that changes anything....also, got a new alternator today because the other one was bad.....at first we were having issues and thought we fixed it because the pulley on the smog pump had locked up, so got that replaced and were still having the same problem.....the main thing that i think could be causing an issue is the O2 sensor, and thats what i was going to see if i could get some help with.....im running headers now, i have no where to put it.....do i have to drill a hole in one of the headers for it to work correctly? or is there another way around it.....or should that even be causing a problem right now with it idling......also, its weird because if i start it once, it will fire right up and idle ok but thats about it.....but if i turn it off and try to start it again, it has a really hard time, i have to hold the accelorator down to get it started, and it usually runs crappy.....so i dont know if that brings up a diff problem or helps lead to the same reason it doesnt run very well.....i tried to back it out of the garage tonight while it was running, but it was like it wouldnt go anywhere........at first it was backing up fine, but i turned it off for whatever reason about half way out the garage, and then when i started it to back it the rest of the way up, when it was in reverse, i pushed the accelorator and it wouldnt move, its slightly uphilll coming out of the garage, but i dont know why i doont have any power....maybe its a sensor somewhere?? someone in the other thread told me to clean the (IAVC) i think is what its called, the "intake air vacuum control" something or antoher, but cleaned it and put it back on there and it didnt help. also bought a new throttle body sensor but that didnt fix it either.......can anyone point me in the right direction....im afraid im going to have to have it towed somewhere so someone can look at it.....the electrical stuff is out my me and my gpas knowledge....so im coming here first to see if anyone can help me get it fixed.....any help would be much appreciated......

It needs the O2 sensor once it warms up to adjust the fuel mixture. A bumg needs to be welded into a header to install the sensor. It is probably leaning out since it isn't reading and exhaust.
