Lowest Gears that can be put into the Dana 44 Mono

Howdy all! I am wondering what is the lowest ratio that can be shoved into the Dana 44? Reason be is that i found a set of gears 5.83:1 for a 9" rear for cheep. I want to get some low ratios due to the fact that I am going to stay with my 300. I dont know if they make something that low for the D 44. If any have any info on this that would help me lots! Thanks all!

Dan, you can get up to a 5.14 for the reverse rotation and up to 5.86 or 5.89 for a standard rotation. I think you have a fairly hot-rodded 300 so I'll pass along that they tend to get weaker (the ring and pinion) the higher you go, something to do either with the ring having to be thin or the pinion having a large head, don't quote me on that last part, other than they are weaker than say a 3.50 ratio though!

thanks for the info...but at the most i dont think my 300 will make enough power to cause much problems. I am shooting for about 220 HP and somewhere in the 320 LB's. BUT anything is pos. Thanks!
