1940 Pickup vs 1939 Pickup

We are beginning to restore a 1940 pickup, and have an opportunity to get a clean and solid chassis from a '39 pickup, including engine and transmission. The chassis on the '40 pickup will need significant blasting and possibly new metal welded in. Does anybody know whether the '39 and '40 chassis are interchangeable? It would save us much time and effort if we could bolt our '40 front clip, cab, and bed to the already reconditioned '39 chassis.

Welcome to FTE.

35-40 cars and up to '41 pu's use the same frame, there's a few differences between cars/pickups, but no need to worry about that.

For reference go to Wescotts Auto Restyling and look at "frame specs" for 35-40 Fords. It'll be under "TECH"

Good luck, love them '40 Ford PU's !

Thanks much! I'm sure more questions will arise as we get this process started!
