this truck needs a new home

eBay Motors: RARE CANADIAN 1947 MERCURY Truck FORD half ton NO RSV (item 300253915681 end time Sep-06-08 19:21:54 PDT)

1947 1 ton Mercury. I'd love to get it, but it is in Canada, about 600 miles away, but getting over the border may be an issue....that and I don't have a trailer, lol. Anyhow, for $500 it looks to be a good candidate for a project. I also posted it in the 48-60 forum.

Gotta watch this.

Thanks.

I asked the customs people and it seems they have gotten pretty stringent. Gonna cost atleast $500 just to get the truck across the border. Bummer.

Without getting into specifics, they were asking if it ran, condition of body, fair market value, etc... To get it in pieces would probably involve lots of UPS/Fed-ex ground shipments, lol. If the seller was parting it out, I'd only ask for the front grille and surrounding trim, since that is all I would need for converting an American Ford into a Mercury, short of tailgate, and other little things. But for a street rod, the grille would be the ticket. I should try to finish one of my other projects first though, lol.

I'm Canadian, but I guess too late. I love the 46/47 Mercurys and I believe there were 4000 made in total or something like that. I own 2 already though.
