How does everyone like their 140v IDM mod?

I was just curious to hear some feedback from those who have had the IDM mod for a while now.

I am contemplating it, but still am debating. Is the early 99 IDM the same IDM as the 99.5+ trucks or the OBS. And has anybody found the parts locally?

You will have to look at the tag to see which one you have the 100v or the 120v I think the early 99 were 120v but not sure. I like the IDM mod just fine, it seems to be much easier to drive in city traffic (6 speed manual ) I can just roll along at 30 in 6th gear no problem. Here's a link from when we did mine . .https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/displayalbum.php?userid=18127&albumid=33818

Don't feel bad, Scott is alot better with a soldering iron than me and thankfully he did mine.

I did this mod 4 months ago with no problems at all. I am very well pleased with the way the truck now starts and the low end power it has. Mileage has not changed much, but seems more responsive to the throttle. Go ahead and do it. What are you waiting for?

I am still on the fence on this one. Scott/Cookie sent me the resistor, but I am still too chickenchit to do it.

Anyone know how I can actually measure the before and after? I would like to do that when I get the ***** to F with my IDM.

My UPS battery failed the other day. I decided I no longer needed an UPS but wanted to keep the unit as a surge protector. That damned beeping battery was driving me nuts. I took the soldering iron to the speaker which is soldered directly to the board and got it off no problem. I have a huge surge protector for the computer now. Gave me some courage. Still contemplating this one.

Be easy to tell the difference on the dyno, but that's not very cost effective. You could always time some 0-60's before and after.

If I had a spare IDM I would build you one and just swap with you, but I sent my spare to Kris and I haven't run across a deal on another one.

I got that Scott. What I am thinking of is a way to test the actual voltage going to the injectors before and after the mod. I am not the greatest sparknician.

Gotcha. Meaning you want to know if the 120 is actually delivering 120. 140-140 and so on.

Thinking about a harness upgrade or just curious?

Scott did mine too, after i *****ed up a perfectly good IDM. I didnt notice a difference in doing it, other than theory. It's a cool mod to say you have, like the billet thermostat housing.

Exactly. Not really thinking harness upgrade. I'd really like to see what is actually going on right now.
