Would this be the correct volt and do you know the prob?
My brother has a bb in a small engine compartment and it is wired simply in my opinion, and when crusing it stays around 10 volts, is this not low. The only things hooked up is headlights stock electrical and a tach and also a msd ignition. This is his third battery and he thinks this one is going to go dead as well. New alternator and battery have been installed within the month. Would the msd drain the battery? Could the tight engine compartment be heading up the battery to a level it won't charge? thanks

Basically.... With the engine running what is the voltage at the battery? Look for 13.8-14.2 at a fast idle, IF NOT then something is wrong.
Doesn`t matter what size the engine compartment is .
With the engine NOT RUNNING voltage at the battery should be at 12.2-12.3 Or Very Close to it!!
My MSD does NOT suck down the battery voltage.(its wired correctly )
Now... it may be that the drive belt to the alternator is slipping at running speed and not charging the battery!
Something in your brothers combination is not up to snuff...
It takes a lot of stuff running at the same time to draw down a good electrical system to 10 volts running..

No way to tell for sure, but one thing to check would be the voltage regulator, if he has one, I have a 76' f-250, and had very similar problems, found out it was the voltage regulator, just an idea.
