im trying a rebuild on this carb and im confused on the accelerator pump liter arm thing. when its conected to the throttle, and you open the throttle , shouldnt it push the pump down? when i pull the throttle open it pushes the lifter up but doesnt really do anything to the accelerator pump.i know it s kinda hard to explain. i could give a link to pictures or video if needed.
Underneath the throttle body on the throttle shaft there is a small cam that engages the pump lifter arm, do you have this engaged correctly? Also did you follow the procedure of installing the spring and bottoming out the metering rod?
I scanned in a rebuild sheet, check out figure 3 in the link below (sorry, it's kind of a big picture).
i believe so. thats whats got my confused. the cam only seems to go on one way. the shaft is shaped like a D. did all they adjustments for the pump and metering rod. but when i twist the throttle shaft, it pushes the arm up, and doesnt really move the pump at all. i tried filling the bowl with gas and working the throttle back and forth and it does pump any gas.
The only advice I can offer is to go through everything and double check your work against the blow-up diagram, because when assembled correctly, a full swing of the throttle shaft should actuate the pump diaphragm. You can submit some detailed photos of your work and we can look them over, if you want, but that might be kind of difficult to work with. I suspect you might be missing the C-clip that holds the accelerator pump rod against the lifting arm.
