We finally got the right hoses, fittings and belt to get the power steering hooked up. (Power steering kit from NO Limit) So we start the process of bleeding the system and wouldn't you know it, we run into another problem. The steering locks up before the wheels are anywhere near straight, where thinking that the problem has to be due to the dip in the axle, which prevented clearing the leaf springs when trying to turn the wheels all the way to the left or right.
Son of a Biscuit, now I'm going to have to invest in a different axle, beings it 98 degrees out, we drag ourselves dripping in sweat back to the house and start looking into our alternatives. Were looking at the directions from NO limit making sure everything was installed right, damn it all looks right!
Now Dennis asks me do you think we could have possible put the right bracket on upside down (if your standing at the front of the truck the bracket on the right) So back down to the shop, and once we look at that bracket it dose look like if you flipped that whole bracket around it would drop the rack down. So guess what, we flipped that bracket and damn if everything worked the way it was intended too!!! STOP LAUGHING the brackets did not have any indicators as to what was up and down. Don't you know how stupid we felt. But mark your calenders as of July 20 there is another 1955 Ford F100 on the roadl YIPPIE
I must say I'm very impressed with the power steering, sure makes making that turn to get back into the shop a WHOLE LOT EASIER.
You can bet I sure did enjoy the test drive, and everything ran smooth as silk. Now I can't wait for the local truck/car show in Priceville which is in August. If entries are as grand as last year, it will be a great turnout.
SO I want you all to know that I will be accepting contributions for one of those nice oak wood beds, as I have exhausting all cash flow down to penny jug!!! Ha Ha it was worth a try!!!
Now I'm off for another tool around the country roads and let that 100 degree air blow thru my hair.... Bye
Ah, heck, don't feel so bad. If I can get away with doing any project just twice then I'm ahead of the game. Usually it takes me 3 to 4 times to finally get things working right.....lol. One little braket upside down...no biggie
Glad you got it together and working good, enjoy the ride
Driving? You mean they DRIVE?
The only stupid people are the ones that won't admit they are wrong...
Like the others say.. if ya don't do it three or four times, how are you going to learn anything? LOL

I have some oak wood scraps I'd be happy to send ya! Congrats on the drive.
go find you some of the good 4x4 pallets somewhere they're oak . not very big but you can do a parquait { i hope i spelled that right !!!!!} pattern !!! god please dont tell me you'd take that seriously ...............
Good show Kathy. Glad to hear there's another classic on the road. Like the other folks said, you only had to do it once? I only hope some of our projects go that smoothly (one of which will be power steering!). Since we've been driving ours, not much work has been going on. That's the winter projects (our winters are way too long to be doing major projects in the short summer.
Wait for the new wood bed until you have the $$. If you're like me it will drive you nuts but at least you can drive the truck. Just try to not look in the bed! We have a cover on ours so I don't have to look at it. The plywood just doesn't cut it.
Enjoy the ride. And take that grandson for a spin.
Seems like anything one trys to change on these trucks is never accompolished on the first go around. In our expierences when we change one thing for the better, we end up causing ourselves three more problems to solve.
I believe I will pass on them there oak scraps and pallets, although the one piece of plywood the PO had dropped in the bed doesn't look any better!
Last Chance 55 We sure will look forward to meeting you @ the Priceville show and can only hope we can make it to the Ardmore show.
Sharon Hi I'm happy to hear your enjoying driving your truck this summer. I believe I got mine on the road at the wrong time of the year, that 100 degree makes a uncomfortable ride. My Grandson sure enjoys getting in the cab of the truck, he has about worn my horn out. haha
Anyways... I have read some off the wall stories on this site, just glad that everyone can see the humor in their mistakes. You guys and gals are a great bunch of people with alot of knowledge with these old trucks. Now get off your behinds and go work on your truck so one day everyone can enjoy viewing YOUR TRUCK!
