Long overdue Update

Well its been a long time since I provided any update on my 56. It seems like the months/years just fly by at the moment and when I step back for a moment to take stock I just cant see where all the time went and how I managed to do so little. I think its probably something to do with my age...

Anyway, I know that there is a lot of interest in the Jaguar IFS and that a number of peole have gone down or are considering this route for the front end. Well, I didn't but I did use the Jag IRS for the rear. So those with a donor XJ or XJS might want to consider getting both axles. You can see how it looks from the pics below. I stripped down and rebuilt the rear axle and have used Air struts (Shockwaves) instead of the original coil overs.

I spent a bit of time polishing the rear diff cover and have bolted a few other polished bits here and there and I am pretty pleased with the result. There are still a few things to do, such as plumb in the air and the brakes, but the mechanicals are all there now.

I will hopefully have the chassis rolling in the next few weeks. It's been up on stands for over 3 years now....

Cheers
Lee

Beautiful!

Both the overall appearance and the manner in which it's mounted (bracketry, etc)

Absolutely beautiful!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I will make a concerted effort to post more often and keep you informed of progress. I have given myself a new goal of getting it on the road by next summer.

I remember some of me very first posts talking to bobby and Randy and others and they all said what ever time you think it will take double or treble it. I remember thinking I knew better...it would be on the road in 18 months tops.

Ahh well we live and learn.. here I am 3 years later and hoping to get it done by next year.

Lee-

It looks great! I'm curious though about the vertical brackets on the rear of the chassis with the horizontal bolts hanging in them. Is this your mounting for a bumper or some other item?

looks very nice
you might want to think ahead about what wheels your going to run.
If they are tall and you want to park it in the weeds you might want to move those
shockwaves up a little
