Going Russian Boar hunting in september. Cant wait! I will be using a S&W .44 mag w/6 inch barrel and a 9mm at my side for emergency back up. Just remember, if your in the brush, you gotta be quick cause they can and will turn on you! Thats when it gets exciting! Hence the back up iron! LOL

Russian Boar hunting?
All I carry is a 7 in. blade, which is more than any of my friends that go. Dont carry a gun cuz most of the time we're not techinally legal and that would carry jail time......

I use either my AR15 or my remington 700 in 30-06 and I carry either my S&W 29 (.44MAG), my 1911 or both as a sidearm.
I dont trap or use dogs... I set out food the first day then the roommate and I start walking across the countryside searching for hog...usually we get some if we dont talk too much lol

I love using my bow to hunt. Everyone can go out and shot something with a gun but not everyone can shot something with a bow from 40 50 yards.

Nope, no dogs for me, or traps.
Iowa... little too far.
X2 on the skill req'd for a bow. Ever heard of instinctive shooting? that's what i'm working on. my spread at 20 yds- just a bit larger than a soft ball, 30 yds- paper plate, 40 yds- about a 16 Inch diameter...
I'd like to get the latter to the first if ya know what i mean...

I tell people the same thing. I have 100 times more fun shooting my bow than anything else. Give me 3 shots at 100 yards if the target is at least 12"x12" and immobile and it's toast. Of course that never happens in reality. However, 30-60 yards is fair game.

At 30-40 yards I can keep them all on a paper plate for the most part. At 20 yards I cant shot at the same spot for more that 3 arrows or it get expensive real fast if you know what I mean. Im working on bringing my spread in at the higher yardage now.

It's basically where you practice only by point and shoot- no sights.
eventually( six months of half an hour a day) you will start to become consistent, and you will slowly gain accuracy.
The key is to (lmao) not try to aim. just look directly where you want the arrow to hit, and practice like mad.
some of the best instinctive shooters can hit a half dollar at 75-80 yards, every time. also provides faster response hunting.
it can be compared to learning to throw a ball. hand eye coordination combined with practice...
Edit: http://www.bowhunting.net/artman/pub...tinctive.shtml
that guy claims to be able to shoot asprin out of the air!
