Running 2-Stroke oil good / bad ??

Ok ... I've been running it for a solid month now. No ill effects yet on the contrary it's running very well. It idles smoother, seems to start better, no real power difference I can tell. I have been getting better and better mileage. I document every tank I run usually get 15-16 back and forth to work now getting 17.5-17.7 best. Now I am driving like fuel costs $4.80 .... wait it does .. haha. Also do get a little more smoke from the tail pipe.

Anyway anyone else have any input good, bad, indifferent?? I still continue to use it. Just wanted to get some feedback from the group.

Thanks.

Brian, glad to hear the good things you are experiencing by adding 2-stroke oil.

I will start my own research for my trip to Kentucky in about a week and a half, just subscribing to this thread.

If someone could post a refresher on their method I would be grateful. Type and ratio is what I am looking for.

Thanks

I've been running it in my 93' 7.3 idi since it was new. Was told by an International mechanic that it was very good for the pump and injectors. I'm sure it can't hurt now with the ULSD at the pumps. I use the cheapest dino oil I can find and mix it to 100:1 ratio. I had to experiment with the ratio to add enough for benefit but without the smoke. Don't know if it actually helped but with the miles I've gotten out of this engine it sure didn't hurt.

grantpage, that equals to almost 100:1 ratio. 100:1 ratio is 1.3oz per gallon. Just so you wanted to know.

OK, I give up. Where do you buy Optilube? I'm on the road so it wouldn't do me any good to order from the Optilube.

i tried 2 stroke oil.....had no results, good or bad. i even tried the expensive racing stuff.

i have heard a lot of people claiming good things about it, a few people like me that had no results, but i havent heard of anyone saying anything bad happened while running 2stroke oil.

Grayson, carter county. 3-7 Jul.

I figure I will give it a shot, even if I dont notice any MPG gains, I figure it cant be bad just because of the lubricity factor, and nobody chimed in with anything negative to say.

I have been running 1oz per gal of fuel of ashless 2-stroke, I forget the brand but will check the next time I run out to my truck. My truck also has a smoother idle and I hear that it helps fix the shrinking of seals caused my the ULSD...but I didnt have any leaks to test that with.
