Proper way to jump 2002 7.3

I think my voltage is low as my truck will not start. Which battery should I jump? The one that is covered up on the passenger side or the one near closest to the bumper on the driver side?

I am not sure the "proper" way, but I normally jump the one on the pass. side.

I would imagine you should hook up to the battery which os closest to the starter as far as wiring goes. thats just my semi educated guess on this topic.

I've used both, and have even had to hook up two vehicles (one to each battery) before.

I'm not saying the above is the proper way, mind you, just letting you know what I've had to do in the past.

I have had same problem before...now if needed, I jump either. Not sure if portable charger would make a difference but every time I had to jump(both being dead) a portable charger was connected to the second/other unit.

Portable jumpers are useless for totally dead batteries though. If there is some decent amount of charge left they probably can help.

I do the passenger side also, figure if the batteries are dead, the juice doesn't have to make it through a second battery. I have jumped both before, one with a vehicle, one with my charger that has a quick start on it.

I was going to say use a big ramp or use a long pole like in pole vaulting.
