I am preparing for a 4000 mile roadtrip pulling my popup. I'll be heading into the mountains out West. I am preparing my 2000 Ford Expedition 4x4 for the trip. I was going to change the coolant and transmission fluid. The vehicle has 96k miles now.
When I found out that there is 7 gallons of coolant and 4 gallons of transmission fluid, my first thought was - how do I collect all this fluid and what do I do with it once I take it out?
For other folks who have done this, how do you capture the fluid and dispose of it?
thanks.
If you do not have a local hazo-house, then you probably should take it in to get the fluids changed so they can be properly disposed of. You can check with your local parts houses as well, some do take your old fluids.
To catch the fluid I used a 4 Gal bucket and it did fit under my Expy I just had it on
6-Ton jack stands. You should also change the diffs and T-case too.
