Look at your drivers side door sticker first, tell us what kind of trans. you have.
Give us the code under trans, for us to better help you...

There are several things that can cause what you describe in the E4OD, you need to pull the codes, see what the computer says.

If the shift solenoids actually are the cause of the problem, they are attached to the underside of the valvebody in the transmission. After dropping the pan and filter, changing them is a simple job.

What shift has the problem, 1-2 up shift, 2-3 up shift or the shift to OD? Are all of them "harsh" or just one?

You say it has no codes at all, does it give ya the system pass "111" code?
And did you do the KOEO and KOER tests?

Shift solenoids should have no continuity to ground, so test any in question. if any do, replace the pack.

Resistance of solenoids should be 20-30 ohms, if resistance is high replace the pack.

Then I'd check all the wiring for bad connections or damaged wires before doing anything else, Test each wire from the EEC connector to the solenoid connector down on the tranny for continuity, if none find problem.
The solenoid pack can be replaced as a unit for about 90 bucks just by dropping the pan but if you have a bad connection that won't help. The pack includes all shift solenoids and tot sensor.

When testing Do not pry off the solenoid connector with a screw driver, push the center tab and remove it by hand only. If not you will damage the pack. Remove the heat shield so you can get at it easier.

Your having no error codes leads one to think the wires are fine but I'd check em all anyway.

Here are a few things to check if the wiring and all solenoids test "good".
