Hello, I just bought a 1990 ford f150 4x4. When going to disengage the 4 wheel drive do I have to drive in reverse to make it disengage? Also there is alot of play in the sterring colom and the truck vibrates bad when going 50 mph. The steering wheel i can move side to side about 1 inch both ways. What are your thoughts on this?
I will basically be using this for hunting and just around my small town. It snows here in the winter and I use the 4 wheel drive alot.
Do you have automatic hubs or manual? If you have automatic hubs you have to back up.
As far as the vibration goes, it could be bad tires, bent rims, bad universals, loose steering linkage, worn out steering box, bad tie rods, etc.. I would check the whole front end.
