Talking Split Bench Seat, Clutch, Tranny, Pressure Plate . . . Help?

I have a lil shopping list, cant you tell?

My truck is an '87 F-250,'92 7.3L banks turbo diesel, and a GV gear splitter (enough random parts for ya?)

Lets start off with most important to least.

Clutch

Whats the best brand to get and where might I search for one at the best price?

and if i need to do the pressure plate as well,

Pressure Plate

What weight would I need to get? and same questions as above

Tranny(manual)

I currently have a 4 speed with the GV gear splitter. I can't find a single tranny online, I'm prolly not using the right search terms, the internet never did like me. I'd like a 5 speed, but would me gear splitter still operate? and would it bolt up ok, or close? And of course, where would I find one!?

Split Bench Seat

I don't know if they made one for my year, how much newer could I go to where it would still fit?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

5 speed:

Domestic Truck Tranny Guide

Scroll down to the 5 speeds, the ZF is the last one. Not sure double OD would work for you, depends on gearing etc. I think the diesel engine bell housing pattern is the same for all oilburners and thus you'd be able to find one.....

After you look at the ZF, scroll back up to the NV4500 if like a little more iron in your diet.

NV4500 info here:

High Impact - NV4500 5spd

GV themselves posts ratio info and the effect of their OD on overall ratios, splits etc:

Gear Vendors Under/Overdrive Ford 2-Wheel Drive Manual Transmissions.

(you can find the NV4500 info under Dodge I think)

Happy Motoring!

About how much am I looking at to purchase a 5 speed, or the NV4500?

Are the GV gear splitters the same on the 2wd as the 4wd, I know the GV turns its self off when I'm in 4wd, so I'm assuming it doesnt matter, just wondering.

When you replace the clutch I recommend doing the plate, the pressure plate and the throw out bearing and surfacing the fly-wheel, especially on the diesel (should be on all). The disc won't last very long if the flywheel is not perfectly smooth and true. (I speak from experience on that one)

yea, my boyfriend says we'll do the pressure plate at the same time, but his dad who drove truck for 30 years says I wont have to, but, i had the same conversation about my slave and master cylinder(clutch)

Here's a little story for you!

Frosty wasn't feeling too well, his gears were grinding, he wouldnt go into gear when he was stopped, grind into reverse, the whole nine yards. I took him to my boyfriends high school auto shop and they found that the clutch master cylinder was flexing in the firewall (im sure someone here remembers us asking for help on that topic, here's that thread) Long story short, I didnt have any money, my father didnt want to replace the slave and the master so he just did the master. I got the truck back and it only fixed it temorarily. We ficed the flexing in the firewall and found that a clip was popping of the push rod so Kevin welded something together and fixed it all hunky-dory.
Here comes the exciting part. Kevin and I(kevin is Frostys_Mechanic on here, he doesnt post much) went down to Klamath to get a trailer. I was driving down from medford and he was going to drive back since it was going to be at night, i havnt hauled a gooseneck horse trailer yet, and we might not have had lights on the trailer :-\ So, we were on 140 coming down from lake of the woods, about 40 miles from white city, I was coasting behind a semi with my foot out on the clutch. I dont know how long my foot was on the clutch, but we were coasting for a while since we were going down hill. As we reached the bottom of the hill and the ground started to level out, i brought my foot off the clutch. One minor problem THE CLUTCH STAYED DOWN No fun right, thats what kevin said would have happened when if the clip fell off my push rod while i was driving. Naturally i say "Oh *****!" and pull off the road. Kevin crawls under frosty and repeats the phrase. I was like, great, he's by the slave. Sure enough there was a hole in my slave and i had let all the pressure out of the slave by keeping my foot on the clutch while coasting! So there we were, 40 miles from white city, 15 miles from Klamath at 6pm on a friday night, we're outa luck right?? No we dont give up that easy. We limped frosty into klamath and found a store that had been closed for 45 minutes but the guys were inside drinking beer, they sold us the slave and a thing of brake fluid. We changed the slave out infront of the police station, 5 cops went by and the only person that stopped to ask if we were ok was a nice guy in a dodge. We made our way to the horse trailer after we bled it for 30 minutes and then had to stay the night because it was 1145 by the time we got there and it was too cold to do any wiring. The next day we finished the re-wiring and headed home. We stopped at the Pacific Pride on 97 to bleed it out a little bit more, but kevin found another leak. He says its because the part came from Mexico (no we're not racist, we were just frustrated) It's a plastic slave, we werent too thrilled about the plastic bit. Anywho, we called up the nice fella that sold us the trailer and he carted us around to find another darn slave. So we replaced it, AGAIN. We definetyl left our mark in klamath. Brake Fluid EVERYWHERE! We got home safe and frosty is A-O-K and healthy.

That's all with my thrilling story. All because my father didnt want to spend the 40 extra dollars for a slave, tisk tisk!

I agree with you on doing both at the same time!

I have read the seat from newer F150 will bolt in . But I find them really uncomfort able . Go with any make u want and make fit truck .

I like the buckets and jumper seat (3 People front ) As they tilt easier for better access. But$$$. There is a split BAck seat For these but they r hard to get in out of unless you get out and move seat up . Good luck

Right now i have a bench seat where the two are connected in the seat and can be bent forward seperately. I want the split bench seat that arent connected, move forward and back seperately and fold forward seperately. It also has a middle section that folds up and down up and down and it is a cup holder when it is down. I like bench seats, i guess its all preference
