I was just talking to a friend of mine the other day about the look of trucks. And she said she likes the looks of the new trucks better than our classics. I just had to ask why is that? She said because they look more sleek and stylish than ours. I asked what make? Ford, Dodge or Chevy? She said all of them except the Nissan Titan. I said there's no way the new trucks can beat the looks of our vintage Ford's IMO. It's a classic design you'll never see again. Although, she did say she does like my 76 F-100 because it's cool looking and it's mine. I had to agree with her on that....lol.
Let's hear what you have to say about this. And yes, she's still a friend of mine....lol
In 2WD, I prefer the older style grilles of the '73-'77. Had a coach in HS that had a '74 2WD F150, and it was THE sharpest truck I can recall. White on red, nice chrome spokes, etc. It was just too nice for words. On the 4WD side, I've always been partial to the '78-'79s. Don't ask me why. My first truck was a '78 4WD with a 429 me and my dad built. Sweet truck. Wish I could go back and stop myself...
Some people just don't get it and they never will, but that's fine everyone is entitled to their own opinion, the 73-79 Ford trucks are well respected by those in the know, they were the toughest looking dependable line of trucks ever produced IMO, when trucks were still trucks, they're a real workhorse, let's see how many are collecting the "sleek and stylish" 2008 model trucks in the year 2043, my guess....not too many.
Personally I think a lot of the new trucks all looks similiar. At least 73-79 stand out from the crowd. There are days where I would love to own a brand new shiny truck, but I'm happy to know I'm getting into a truck that stands out. As far as new trucks being more "stylish" that is a matter of opinion. You can't beat these trucks as far as being easy to work on and reliable.
IMO you can't beat the styling of the 73-79 fords.
As far as a good looking newer truck I fell in love with the SuperDutys when they came out in '99. They kind of remind me of the older Fords, and they still have a solid front axle. Heck I put an '05 250 in my driveway a few months ago. I have a hard time trying to decided what to drive every mourning.

you gotta go with the 79.
well last sunday I drove my truck to church like always but then I went home a different way than I usually do; I got looks from some people like, "I ain't seen one of those trucks on the road in a long time" and I also got looks from people with plastic and a set of tires like, "What's that old junk doing on the road?"
also today was the first day that I drove my truck to high school. I didn't think most of my friends saw my truck but they did and they all said something like this, "Dang I like your truck it's so different from all these other new vehicles, what year model is it?" I said, "79." I know they were wondering how it still looks as nice as it does.
I like the new Super Duty's and... I apologize in advance... the most recent Toyota Tundra. Purely from a body style standpoint though. Of course, both of these are nothing compared to our 73-79s.
i remember when i first drove my truck to school, it had chains in the back so every time I hit the parking lot speed bumps it made that real loud RACK!!!!! sound and i swear everybody at school heard it that morning, cause they all turned around and looked. i got alot of "nice truck!" comments that day

Nothing having to do directly with looking "good" or "bad", but i've always gotten comments on how aggressive the 80-86's and 67-72's look compared to new trucks (never owned a 73-79).
More than one person has told me "new trucks are cute, but the older ones just look mean"
