water for gas

Has anyone heard of running you car or truck on partially water? Search water for gas. I really want to believe what they are claiming about gas mileage but I think it is BS. There are people selling the kits already made up on ebay. Let me know what you think.

The system uses electrcity from your truck alternator to split liquid H2O into 2H + O gas, then injects the gas into your intake manifold. In the combusiton chamber it 'burns' by recombining back into H2O.

Unfortunately, it takes more energy to electrolyze H2O into separate gasses than the recombination releases. And that energy has to come from burning gas to run the alternator to supply the electricityto electrolyze the water.

So I'm real skeptical.

This would work if you could plug it in at home and store the Hydrogen for use as a fuel.
You do not need to store the Oxygen...

Sorry, but I just have to laugh...

The egas (Hydrogen/Oxygen or Hydroxy Gas or electrolysis gas) produced acts like a catalysis to your fuel. Get higher octane combustion. Utilizing oxy-hydrogen gas to boost a fossil fuel with a complete burn of all the hydrocarbons, produces a way cleaner emission. In fact so clean you will NOT pass the SMOG test. (disconnect it when at the SMOG test.)
First, it's catalyst, not catalysis, they've misspelled it several places, so it's not just a typo. Anyone that has enough engineering background to make up this thing should know that.

Second, it's so clean that you should disconnect it before a smog test? C'mon.

If you believe that I've got some snake oil right over here that'll cure all your ailments. Oh, and some ocean front property in Arizona that I'll sell you cheap, you could make a killing...

Mostly right

The use of the word is correct. I have an engineering degree with a minor in chemistry. Catalysis is causing or accelating a chemical change. Catalyst is the component used.
You are right however. Total BS. Can't produce enough to be valuable and takes more energy to create than is gained. If it was that easy Toyota would be doing it and selling higher mileage cars.

While doing a research project on vintage trailers I frequently ran across ads in "Mechanixs" magazines from the late '40's and '50's promoting the same scam. J.C. Whitney offered a similar set-up in the mid '70's. Some things never change.

Thanks for your input. I guess I will just use my Expedition as a garage decoration for a while. I have a feeling this summer is going to be rough at the pumps.
