Should we start a Street Rod forum to cover issues such as non-Ford engines placed into Ford trucks?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Oct-02 AT 03:59 PM (EST)]I like the idea of a street rod forum with the exception of the*non Ford engines*part,i think you'd be asking for trouble there.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Oct-02 AT 04:25 PM (EST)]I have to agree with thewiz427 on this. It would be asking for trouble. Ford only, who in there right mind would put anything less in these great trucks. Henry would roll over in his grave!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Oct-02 AT 04:18 PM (EST)]I have mixed emotions on the Non Ford Power part! My thought is if you dump outside power in it your on your own. Out of the circle(OVAL) so to say. Also it could open up doors for needless brand bashing.

Sure, why not give it a try? If it doesn't work out you could always pull it. I may be Ford blue but I've got an old 500 Caddy engine I'm just dying to put into something!

It's the frame, suspension, and style that make a FORD truck what it is. When it comes to street rods, and monster trucks an engine is an engine is an engine.
True ford blue to me means having the self confidence to not worry about a minor quibble like that, and besides - FORD doesn't own Kieth Black or Donovan, do they? Those are some hellacious engines!

I say go for it I think that ford is the best but, I think that it is not my buisness to tell you what to do with your rig. I think it is everyones choice what color to paint or engine to power with.
If I have a problem with it I don't have to go to that forum.

I think it is a great idea. I suspect there are a lot of present AND future users out there that could use this type of forum for help. After all, how many cars and trucks are purebreds any way?
As for the potential abuse, YOU are FTE Master. I would suggest placing a notice in the very beginning stating that absolutely NO abuse will be tolerated. I think the vast majority of FTE users are mature enough to accept not only the forum, but a policy of Instant Boot for abusers. You and the moderators stand firm on posting in the wrong forum, I see nothing different here. Play nice, stay and enjoy; if not, go away.

I wonder how many older Fords (Mercurys) are true blue.
Is yours?
Toyota steering boxs ,Chrysler k frames, Chevy columns, seats from what ever.
There are a lot Chevy and Dodge powered hotrods out there cars and trucks and a lot of skill and knowledge.
If you have a problem with a forum of this type stay out!

Keith black or doonovan??? We don't need them greywolf. We have Ford.... A guy down at the dragstrip I know runs an all ford 351W in his drag tbird. He has over 200 passes on the motor and runs 8.99 in the quarter. He shifts at 8,900rpm. Heads, block, rods and all are SVO ford products. I'm still not sure how I feel about this so I haven't voted yet.

Good Idea, but I have to agree w/the guys that say we should stick to ford. There are no websites where I can get help for wifes 96 Taurus Wagon. Non SHO Tauruses are boring so there never will be. That's why it would be great if we had a ford engine or car forum.
If you make it all engines, it will gravitate to generally power/hot rod style stuff, ie, what's the biggest muffler I can put on my mom's civic?
There are all kinds of forums for that. But where on the net could you ask -

Why not have an FTE-quality forum on that topic. Sure, it's not about full-blooded Ford parts from top to bottom, but not everything around here is anyway. It's all about having a creation of your own, and even though I prefer Ford engines (really because I'm forced to learn about them, because mine are always keeping me working on them) I know that there are plenty of other good people who might be attracted to our hobby, and even our trucks who could contribute much knowledge and experience to this website. Don't descriminate against other hot rodders just because they like some of Detroit's other fine products. Let's go for it, expand our horizons, and let the world of hot rodding experience the professionalism and hospitality of this fine website. TK

I like the idea of a street rod forum, something that would specialize in that kind of truck, because it's not what everybody's into around here. I can't say I'm a big fan of non-ford engines, but I do see both sides of the argument.
