I got no reply on the tire and suspension forum.I've got 35-12.5-16.5 tires right now,I'd like to go with something around 40 inches now since the 8 inch lift.I was always under the impression that a 16.5 wheel didnt hold a bead well at low pressure so I might have to get new wheels too. What sort of wheel sizes and offset specs do I need to keep the tires from hitting my fenderwell and headers
16.5's dont hold a bead under about 15, start gettign worried. last year at GrayRock, my first obstacle waiting in line i lost a bead on mine. they were all about 8psi so i was lucky i made it that far. it all depends on how low you want to go and what you will be doing. if just mud then 16.5's will be fine.
i would say the standard offset that most have good luck with is 3.5-4.5.
I ran my 16.5s at 15 all day at rc with no problem, but I didn't try going under that. My backspacing is 4.75 and I don't have any problems (on a bronco with radius arms though). This is on 36x12.5x16.5 tires.
I air my jeep tires into the single #s and it makes such a big difference in traction and smooth ride, less likely to spill beer.Am wondering if I should look for something in 17" size.PS I had the front driveshaft yoke off Saturday when I moved the truck to drier ground to work on it,hubs were locked, pulled pinion shaft into diff case, broken teeth and bits of steel nowguess I can go with those 4.88s now
the gears are a great idea but I have to ask are you running a D44hd or D60 front? Id bet most anything that because of recent carnage its a D44. 40s will only make it worse.
Personally I wouldnt waste any more money on the D44 when you know you want 40s in the near future.
I wouldnt contact anyone else unless you want to spend more money. Fishy told me about Mike at COR and I have been very satisfied with price, quality, ease of delivery and customer service.

cant give that place anymore kudos or i would! mike kicks **** and he's a very down to earth guy!
you destroyed a 60's R&P?? ouch! i know that sucks! how did the pinion shaft end up falling in? i am guessing you didnt put it back together for the short trip to drier ground!?!? OUCH!
my tires stay at 5-7psi and that is about perfect! too much more air and i lose traction, any less and my steering feels all haywire (more so than normal!)
The pinion yoke was off,I had new yokes to put on for my High Angle CV shaft. The hubs were locked,so when I moved forward it rotated all the internals pulling the angled pinion gear into the diff. Its ugly in there,I thought I was just stuck in the mud so I went back and forth a few times before I unlocked the hubs,so 4.88 gears and ARBs
