What stuff was stuck on your Excursion when you bought it?
The original owner of my truck liked the bolt-on accessories, and the receipts that came with the truck included a 2000 Ford Accessory Catalog with a lot of things circled. Thankfully, only a few of these and other things were installed on the truck:
* Mud Flaps
* Door Edge Protectors
* Rear Dust Visor/air-deflector/spoiler
* Rubber Floor Mats
* A Padded footrest in vinyl matching the leather interior
* Cargo Net
* Chrome air-deflector on front edge of hood
* Chrome Grille guard
Some things, like the interior stuff and the rear air-deflector, I will keep:
But some of the other stuff, like these things on the front, are either not to my taste or have seen better days:
What came on your truck that you just *had* to get rid of, and what did a previous owner get that you really appreciated?
One thing in the accessory catalog I really wish the original owner had ordered was a bin that mounted on the inside of the rear door, in place of the trim-panel, which would provide a handy place for storage.
I put everything on my truck. Black bull guard, MTX subs, clear headlights and turn sigs, chrome grille, a wire hooked up to the OEM 6cd changer so i can hook up a mp3 player, flowmaster exhaust and a fabtech 4 inch lift with 33's. Are u gettin rid of the grille guard? It looks like it has seen its better days.
BTW does that rear air deflecter actually work but keepin dust off of ur rear barn doors?
I've only had the truck two weeks, and I don't have anything to compare it with, so I can't say definitively.
But on other vehicles, it's pretty common to have something like that to smooth out the airflow over the tailgate, so all the dust kicked up from the road doesn't swirl around in that low-pressure area and stick to the rear glass.
And I'm either going to redo that grille-guard in black, or just keep it off. Looking at it more closely, it seems that the single low mounting-bracket is not really that strong, and in a slight collision, all it would do is act as a lever and bash in the grille like a large chrome hammer, instead of just absorbing some of the impact in place of the bumper.
Read previous posts from owners and they'll tell you that the rear air deflector is not as functional as it would seem.
Nice truck, Bob! You gonna keep that chrome bug deflector?
You got a picture of that footrest?
Sorry; the chrome bug-deflector had to go. I was getting calls from NASA complaining that the reflection of the sun from it was interfering with their space satellites...
I actually sold it through Craigslist along with that brushguard. When I removed that shield, you could see how it had funneled debris to concentrate on certain parts of the hood, so it didn't completely shield the hood from damage.
I'll try and get a picture of the footrest; I think I even have the receipt with the Ford part # for it in my records from the previous owner. It matches the color of the interior perfectly, and is simply a vinyl-covered foam brick about 8"x10"x12" in dimension.
The Excursion was bought in 03 with 104K miles and was bone stock. The previous owner may have taken out a brake controller but that would be about it.
The F250 on the other hand was bought in 01 with 40K miles and came with a fiberglass tonnue cover, stainless steel MAAP nerf bars (the ones you can actually stand on), American Racing rims, and a few other little things.
The F350 was bought in 06 and it looks like by all the drill holes the previous owner took most of the adds off when he traded in. It's got the biggest wheels you can fit under a dually but it looks like the nerf bars were removed.

I had one on my '01 Limited, and it's only useful purpose which I could determine was to cast some shade on the CHMSL. I will not put one on my '05 EB. Plus, it also got in the way of any long loads you may want to carry on the roof rack.
My Ex is very stock except for the oversized tires and those plastic window shades. (I think these could prove useful as when we leave the dogs inside it's nice to crack the windows but always risked sudden rain coming in.
However, I once had a 87 Pathfinder SE with the push and brush bar - though it looked rather cool - what's the point? In the bush the don't keep the branches off the painted sides and otherwise probably cut my gas mileage through added weight and resistance. If you hit a deer I doubt it would save the front from any damage. What are they good for? (Now I do wish it came with headlight wipers! What kind of true SUV doesn't have headlight wipers.)
