Its kinda retarded at how sad I am. My puppy got hit by a car today, on accident, and I havent felt this sad for a long time.
She was a part of my family, even though I only had her a month. I dont need any sympathy, or replies at all, just posting it made me feel a little better.
it would be 'tarded to not be deeply hurt by your loss. i can't imagine how i'd feel if i lost my baby.
i'm very sorry for your loss Sheldon. your pups in my thoughts.
Sheldon...I agree with the others...nothing retarded about your feelings...I had to put my fathers dog down almost a year ago...I still miss him tremendously.
You're a better person for sharing your life with a dog!!!
Before I moved out of the house (about a year and a half ago), my mom up and got rid of our dogs. She had been talking about getting rid of them (both my brother and I were moving out, and it's really hard to find apartments that allow pets and don't cost a fortune, and she was moving in with a guy that was allergic to dogs), but the day she took them to the pound she didn't even tell us she was doing it that day. We were fairly upset, although we knew it was coming.
We'd had one of the dogs for almost 10 years, the other for about 3.
I wish I could get another one, but I'd say that won't be happening until I can get my own place, and I definitely want one that's well behaved (our one dog was not neutered and he peed on EVERYTHING).
If you love animals it gets you down, even if you didn't own the animal, especially puppies or horses. Just something different about them. I have found giving animals a nice burial (even strays we found on the road) helps.
Sorry for your loss buddy, the first couple days are the worse. I've lost a couple pets who meant the world to me, you can find another friend to fill the void, but the heart never forgets them.
You'll always have your memories, as long as those live on so will a part of her.
Hope this isn't to corny, a fellow FTEer (sorry I cant remember who) posted this awhile back in a similar thread. Although I normally don't go for the lovey-dovey type stuff I find it helps ease the pain to feel that my lost furry friends are somewhere better and at piece.
"When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together".... Author unknown...
