Question Found, but not lost, what is it?

Found something else in my truck that I can't identify. My truck 2008, KR, F-350 4x4, long bed, camera, preheat, etc.

When I open the passenger side door, located on the dash which is covered when the door is closed is a plastic cover with a thumb nail for easy removal. There is a symbol on the plastic cover which looks like a fuel pump with a line thru it.

Inside this little compartment, maybe an inch and half by inch and a half is what feels like the top of a pump. Soft to the touch. I have had the truck in my garage and every time I can open the door completely, I forget to look further.

Anyone know what this thing does?

Thx,

Fuel pump circuit reset.. gets triggered and opens the circuit on hard impact.. Right vehicle, shake off glass from clothes and depress button... On your way again..

Now that's funny!

A contractor I was working with was hit, spun and flipped in an Excursion and walked away. You can't believe the pictures, but anyone with a seat belt on in that thing would've survived too (none of the windows did tho...)

I believe it. Those things are pretty stout looking. I don't see a lot of gassers, but a fair amount of oil burners running around down here.

Its the fuel cut out switch, if the truck were involved in an accident it will trip shutting off the fuel pump. If you ever hit something hard or a big bump sometimes it will trip and your truck will die or won't start, just push it to reset it.

Glad to hear that actually. I'm an X driver, and I only hear the horror stories about how the A pillars collapse in a rollover.
